Lily Gilchrist DDS
Dr. Gilchrist grew up in Tallahassee, Florida—she knew she wanted to be a dentist as early as third grade, and she has been passionately pursuing that dream ever since. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, as a fourth generation Gator. During her time there, she served as president of the Pre-Dental Society and established a student volunteer partnership between UF pre-dental students and the ACORN Dental Clinic, a non-profit organization providing comprehensive dental care to individuals and families of rural North Central Florida regardless of ability to pay. She attended a dental mission trip to Haiti with UF dental students that reaffirmed her desire to be a dentist. She was also actively involved in her sorority, Kappa Delta, where she served as social chair, organizing the first Oyster Fest that continues to this day.
Dr. Gilchrist went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she served as president of the American Student Dental Association and worked closely with the North Carolina Dental Society to protect the dental profession, even lobbying in Washington, D.C. Following dental school, she completed a residency at the Medical College of Georgia, receiving advanced training in oral surgery and dental implants. Dr. Gilchrist earned the Dental Implant Award, given by the UNC oral surgery department, for her implant case. She is a proud Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and is an active member of the Hinman Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Georgia Dental Association.
Prior to joining Waldron & Lee Dentistry, Dr. Gilchrist practiced in Jacksonville, Florida, and Woodstock, Georgia, and then spent nine years at the Veterans Affairs Dental Clinic in Atlanta and had the privilege of treating veterans. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for treating obstructive sleep apnea using custom dental devices. She has completed many continuing education courses in dental sleep medicine and helped countless patients sleep better.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Gilchrist enjoys entertaining, playing mahjong and tennis with friends, and traveling with her family. She is married to Dr. Lee and is the proud mother of two sons, Sawyer and Miller, along with their two dogs.
